A true music feast 22 June 2017

''It was one of the most beautiful moments of my life
and surely my most powerful experience so far"
Arieta Liatsi, violin soloist

The traditional meeting of the Thessaloniki State Symphony Orchestra musicians with the MOYSA-Megaro Youth Symphony Orchestra musicians for the celebrations of the European Music Day, gave us once again a fascinating concert that fully satisfied the more than 1.000 music lovers who filled the Friends of Music Hall.

The concert started with the refreshing Overture by Haydn’s opera buffa ‘Lo Speziale’ which brought together on stage the talented young musicians of the MOYSA and the experienced and renowned musicians of the T.S.S.O.. The programme continued with two wonderful solo performances by Arieta Liatsi and Maria Tsogia-Razakova. The young and very talented violonists performed the first movements of two most demanding violin concerto's. Arieta performed the first movement by Mendelssohn's ‘Violin concerto in E minor, op.64' and Maria the first movement by Vieutemps's ‘Violin concerto No.5, op. 37’.

In the second part of the concert, the T.S.S.O., conducted by Michalis Economou, excited the audience with a breathtaking performance in Tchaikovsky's 'Symphony No.5 in E minor, op.64'. Unfortunatelly the music lovers who went to Odeon of Herodus Atticus last Saturday, for the T.S.S.O. concert in 'Athens and Epidaurus Festival 2017', missed this opportunity, along with Vasilis Varvaresos performance with the T.S.S.O. and the rest of programme, due to bad weather.

Mr Economou stated after the concert: "The T.S.S.O. proved once again that it has nothing to be jealous of any other great orchestra abroad. It is a very serious working and disciplined orchestra with musicians that distinguish for their charismas, such as their excellent technic, their natural talent, their musical perception and of course their ethos, inside and outside the concert hall. The MOYSA and the two gifted soloists not only proved that they're much talented and promising, but also proved that our Culture will always be on top, even in such difficult times. Thank you all for this great cooperation and I'm really honored to be part of this".

The two talented violonists lived their own way this beautiful evening where they were staring. Arieta Liatsi stated: "It was the first time that I have ever played with a full orchestra in a great hall and my feelings are indescribable. I will bever forget the rehearsals, all the pressure and the satisfaction I was felling during the concert. It was one of the most beautiful moments of my life and surely the most powerful experience so far". Maria Tsogia-Razakova stated "It is a great honor for me to collaborated as a soloist with the T.S.S.O. in such beautiful concert for the 'European Music Day'. The Thessaloniki State Symphony Orchestra and the Thessaloniki Concert Hall offered me the chance to live a unique and unforgettable experience. I feel really happy for this concert and especially for my cooperation with the conductor Michalis Economou and I'm grateful for all the support by the entusiastic audience".

The new artistic director of the T.S.S.O. Zoi tsokanou attented the concert with the artistic director of the Thessaloniki Concert Hall Georgios Lazaridis.
