Eftychia Talakoudi, violinist

Eftychia Talakoudi has been a member of the first violin section of the Thessaloniki State Symphony Orchestra since 2002.
 
She obtained a PhD from the Macedonian University of Thessaloniki researching the life and works of Dimitris Lialios and including the edition and the recording of six of his works for violin and piano.
 
Eftychia has performed as soloist with the T.S.S.O. and is a founding member of the Salonicco Quartet. As a baroque ensemble member, she has performed at the Onassis Stegi as well as the University of Macedonia. As an orchestra and chamber musician she has performed in Greece, France, Italy, Germany, Austria, Czech Rebublic, Hungary, Denmark, Guatemala, Costa Rica, El Salvador, Uruguay, the USA and China.
 
She has recorded for Oberlin Conservatory’s composition department and has performed new music by young contemporary composers in collaboration with the Aristotel University’s department of composition. She has also taught at the Thermi Conservatory.
 
Eftychia received her diploma with honors from the New Conservatory of Thessaloniki where she studied with P.Arnaudov, K.Galileas and E.Papadimitris. She was awarded prizes in two Greek competitions. She continued her studies in Germany with Stelios Kafantaris and in 2003 she earned her Bachelor of Music with full scholarship from the Oberlin Conservatory of Music in Ohio, USA studying with professors Taras Gabora, Marilyn McDonald (baroque violin), Milan Vitek and the members of the St.Petersburg quartet.
 
Married to violinist/violist David Bogorad she is the mother of three children.
