Students and teachers by the TSSO
25 February 2025
With the violin concerto by Sergei Taneyev, beautifully performed by Arsenis Selalmazidis, as a connecting link, the interesting program of the concert of the 'Students and Teachers' cycle of the TSSO unfolded on Saturday at the Aristotle University of Thessaloniki Ceremonies Hall. The talented soloist won the warm applause of the audience and reciprocated with an encore.
Taneyev's work was played in the first part of the concert, while the second part was followed by the captivating 'Island of the Dead' by Taneyev's student, Sergei Rachmaninoff, first performed by the T.O.T. and the evening closed with the Introduction-Fantasy 'Romeo and Juliet' by Taneyev's teacher and Rachmaninoff's mentor, Pyotr Ilyich Tchaikovsky.
The T.O.T.
was conducted by its principal conductor Leo McFall, who was rightly adored by the audience and the orchestra.
