Musical duets 10 March 2025

The concert series of the TSSO 'In the Time of Mozart' continued on Friday with a particularly interesting theme, musical duels. The program was built on the two well-known historical duels of Mozart with Clementi and Beethoven with Steibelt, containing wonderful works by these four creators. However, as the presenter of the evening, Kostas Chardas, explained, musical duels have existed since antiquity and still exist today, as in rap music, with the result that "these duels have always ignited an unquenchable creativity". The central piece of the program was Mozart's amazing Piano Concerto No. 24, with a wonderful and warm performance by Marilena Liakopoulou, who responded to the audience's applause by playing on the piano the Clementi sonata that inspired Mozart's 'Magic Flute'. The TSSO was conducted in this beautiful musical journey by Leo McFall.
