The concert of the Thessaloniki State Orchestra took place yesterday for the "Day of Remembrance of Greek Jewish Witnesses and Holocaust Heroes", in collaboration with the Jewish Community of Thessaloniki and the Thessaloniki Concert Hall, with Zoi Tsokanou at the podium and Giorgos Emmanuel-Lazarides on piano .

One hour before the start of the concert, the exhibition of Artemis Alkalai's "Study on Drama, Memory and Loss: Greek Jewish Survivors from the Holocaust" was opened at the foyer of the M1 building of the Megaron. The exhibition will run until February 28th.

The event was attended, among others, by the Minister of Culture and Sport Mrs. Lydia Koniordou, the Mayor of Thessaloniki Mr. Yannis Boutaris, the Consul General of Germany Mr. Walter Stechel, the Honorary Consul of Austria Mr. Evelyn Papadopoulos, Director of the Archaeological Museum of Thessaloniki Mrs. Polyxeni Adam-Veleni, Rector of AUTH. Mr. Pericles Mitkas, the President of NTUA Mr. Aris Stylianou, the Music Advisor of the Athens and Epidaurus Festival, Mr. Kostas Pilavakis and others.
 
At the end of the evening, Mrs. Koniordou spoke with the best words about the orchestra: " TSSO is really a remarkable orchestra. I'm glad every time I hear it. It has a tight and sensitive sound. I am also very pleased to see that it is tied up and goes well with the new conductor and I hope it will go even further. "
 
George-Emmanuel Lazaridis, who was was discerned for his interpretation in Beethoven's "Piano Concerto no.5", also spoke very heartily about the TSSO: "It was a wonderful experience! It was great joy and honor that we collaborated with the TSSO, as it exists today and as it has evolved in recent years. In my opinion, it is an orchestra that can deserve a place among the 15-20 best orchestras in Europe right now. It was also very much my pleasure to collaborate with Zoe, which I think is an amazing conductor and an outstanding personality. Thousands of thanks to TSSO, which is my favorite orchestra and I hope we will re-work soon. "
