The sea in music 24 February 2018

"Everyone I met here in the T.S.S.O. is so positive.
They all try to help you with a smile. I felt part of the family.".

Ilia Papandreou, soprano

An interesting musical trip had the opportunity to enjoy the audience of yesterday's TSSO concert, which took place in collaboration with the Thessaloniki Concert Hall, through compositions by Mendelssohn, Chausson, Skalkottas and Debussy, with which these great creators expressed their love and admiration for the beauties of the sea.

Soprano Ilia Papandreou touched everyone with her performance in the famous 'Poem of Love and the Sea'. After the end she said: "It was my great honor and pleasure that I was able to sing for the first time in Greece. As a Greek I wanted it for so many years and I am happy that it finally happened. I was very impressed that everyone in TSSO. They are so positive and they all want to help you with a smile. I felt like I was here for years, and this cordiality helped me a lot, because as far as I was coming for the first time in Greece, I was creating anxiety. They helped me not to feel anything about it, but rather a family member, if I can say that. A thousand thanks! "

Martin Lebel had another very good collaboration with the orchestra, and in the end he was warmly applauded by the musicians along with the audience. In the end he said: "I am very happy! It is the fourth time I come here and every time with completely different music. This is the first time we have made French music with the orchestra and it has been a great job. From the first day of rehearsals I wanted to put them in this music and I have to say that no one orchestra is so often found to be so good and so eager to do beautiful things. Moreover, I am grateful to Zoi Tsokanou for the invitation of Ilia. She has a perfect French accent and has done a wonderful job in the work of  Soson. She is not a simple performer, but a complete musician with deep knowledge of what she does. She helped me a lot with her interpretation. She also does not make a show singing, but music penetrating deep inside her. "
