An enjoyable music evening 04 March 2018

"The combination of Theodoridis's concerto,
with Myron Michailidis and the T.S.S.O. was irresistable".

Antonis Sousamoglou, violin soloist/concert master of the T.S.S.O.

Friends of the music enjoyed three very beautiful works at KOΘ's premiere concert. The first part included two compositions by Chris Theofanidis, the Greek-American composer who excels abroad and as the conductor of the night Myron Michailidis told the audience when he invited the honored composer on stage, it is very important that such people be honored alive. In the second part, Shostakovich's favorite 'Jazz Suite No.2' scattered the cheerfulness with its rhythms. Antonis Sousamoglou offered a high-level performance to the highly demanding 'Violin Concerto' of the honored composer and was publicly discerned. At the end he said: "It was a great joy and the honor we met with Chris Theofanidis, a very important composer who wrote a wonderful concert. The combination of Theodoridis's concerto, with Myron Michailidis and the TSSO was irresistible."
Myron Michailidis ansered to how he felt in yet another return: "Every time I come to Thessaloniki to run the KOΘ. it is a particular emotion for me. I meet old colleagues, old friends and spend beautiful days with them making great music. This time I had the honor of conducting works by a very great Greek-American composer and in the second part a work that is famous, but I think it has been many years to play in Thessaloniki. It was a beautiful program and I wish the orchestra always has beautiful concerts and joys".

Chris Theofanidis sent us the following statement about this cooperation:

Dear Colleagues-
I want to thank you very genuinely for the incredible week of music making.
This experience was more precious to me than you could know, and I so appreciated your fantastic playing and dedication. I mostly am featured on concerts with only one work, and so this was also a wonderful moment to have half of a concert, and Antonis of course was a real master to work with.  I also thank you all for your warm hospitality- I did not know what to expect, and so many of you were so kind.  I wish you very good things for your professional and personal lives, and hope to cross paths again!
