Another beautiful Christmas night full of music in the spirit of the season was held yesterday at the YMCA sports center “Mimis Tsikinas”, where the TSSO is offering for the eighth year in a row its Christmas concert for Thessaloniki YMCA, boosting its purposes and work.
The event was sponsored by the President of Thessaloniki YMCA, Mr. Ioannis Sosidis, while Minister of Macedonia-Thrace Mr. Theodoros Karaoglou, Central Macedonia Regional Commander Mr. Apostolos Tzitzikostas and Mayor of Thessaloniki Mr. Konstantinos Zervas addressed a salute.
Mezzo soprano Electra Platiopoulou and trumpet player Dimitris Gogas, as well as the Young Choir of the Holy Church of St.Kyrillos and Methodios participated, under the tutelage of Maria Emma Meligopoulou. TSSO was conducted by Lisa Xanthopoulou.
The remarkable moments of the evening included the interpretations of the ‘Pie Jesu’ by
Requiem by A.L.Webber, performed by Evelina Havale and Ioannis Boulionis, and spiritual ‘Go tell it on the mountain’ performed by Andrjia Prokopa, with the young choir members winning everyone’s applause, as well as the moment Apostolos Tzitzikostas climbed up TSSO’s podium, leading the orchestra in the ‘Petersburg Sleigh Ride’, by Richard Eilenberg!
