Announcement of auditions for twelve (12) vacancies for artistic personnel in organic, permanent positions at the Thessaloniki State Symphony Orchestra
THE MINISTER OF CULTURE AND SPORTS
Having regard to:
  1. The Provisions of:
  1. The Legislative decree 4590/1966 ‘On the organization and operation of the Symphony Orchestra of Northern Greece’ (A 238)
  2. Article 74 of Law 1943/1991 ‘Modernisation of the organisation and operation of Public Administration, upgrading of its personnel and other related provisions’ (A 50) and 98/16/1995 opinion of the Three—member Committee of the Ministry of Culture’s Legal Council, accepted by the Minister of Culture, in relation to the hiring of musicians of recognised talent.
  3. Article 14(2)(viii) of Law 2190/1994, ‘The establishing of an independent authority for selecting personnel and regulating administrative matters’ (A 8), as replaced by Article 1 of Law 3812/2009 ‘Reforming the hiring’ system in the public sector and other provisions’ (A 234)
  4. Article 69 of Law 2065/1992, ‘Reforming of direct taxation and other provisions’ (A 113), as amended and in force.
  5. Law 2431/1996, ‘Appointment or hiring of citizens of the European Union in the civil service’ (A 175), as well as legislative decree 7/2003, ‘Appointment or hiring of citizens from member states of the European Union at the Ministry of Culture and at Regulated Bodies’ (A 57).

Request No ΥΠΠΟΑ/ΓΔΔΥΗΔ/ΔΔΑΑΔ/ΤΥΕΦΤΠ/486895/38579/36563/2461/20.11.2017 of the Minister of Culture and Sports regarding approving the filling of vacant organic positions of Artistic Personnel for the Thessaloniki State Symphony Orchestra and document no. 1361/11.9.2017 of said Orchestra in relation to the above subject.
  2. Document no ΥΠΠΟΑ/ΓΔΟΥ/ΔΠΟΔΤΠ/ΤΚΠ/456884/40801/23345/1879/18.12.2017 of the Budget and Financial Management Directorate of the Ministry of Culture and Sports with regard to the manner in which said expenditure will be covered.
  3. Document no 2/2503/10.1.2018 of the State General Accounting Office with regard to covering the required expenditure.
  4. Decision no ΔΙΠΑΑΔ/Φ.ΕΓΚΡ.247/40311/11.9.2018 of the Board of Article 2(1) of 33/2006 Π.Υ.Σ as in force, with regard to the approval of filling twelve (12) vacant organic positions in the Thessaloniki State Symphony Orchestra (Public Service overseen by the Ministry of Culture and Sports).
  5. Document no 2089/9.10.2018 (correct repetition on 15.10.2018) of the abovementioned Orchestra in respect of the distribution of positions and the forming of an examination board for said auditions.
  6. The fact that this decision-announcement does not burden the State Budget with any expenditure.
We announce
Auditions for twelve (12) vacant organic positions of permanent artistic personnel for the Thessaloniki State Symphony Orchestra, as follows:
  1. 3rd Category
  1. One (1) position for 1st Principal on Double Basses
  2. One (1) position for 1st Principal on Trumpets
  1. 4th Category
  1. One (1) position for 2nd Principal Bassoon (with obligation also on Contra Bassoon)
  2. Two (2) positions for 2nd Principal Percussion (with obligation also on drums)
  1. 5th Category
  1. One (1) position for musicians (tutti) on violas
  2. One (1) position for musicians(tutti) on cellos
  3. One (1) position for musicians (tutti) on double bass
  4. One (1) position for musicians (tutti) on oboes
  5. Two (2) positions for musicians (tutti) on horns
  6. One (1) position for musicians (tutti) on trumpets
Candidates must
  1. In terms of nationality be:
  1. Greek citizens or
  2. Citizens from member states of the EU or
  3. Northern Epirotes or Greek Cypriots or ex-patriot Greeks from Istanbul or from the islands of Imbros and Tenedos, as well as ex-patriots from Egypt, without the obligation to hold a certification of Greek nationality on condition that their status as Greeks according to race and their national conscience is proven in other ways (Legislative Decree 3832/1958 – GG 128/A/1958).
  4. Also eligible to apply are those who acquired Greek citizenship through naturalization at least one year prior to the application deadline, unless up until its acquisition they were citizens of a member state of the European Union
  1. Be at least 21 years old, or if they are musicians with recognized talent, over the age of 15.
  2. Be in good health and in the suitable physical condition required to exercise those duties of said post, within the meaning of the provisions of Article 1(7) of Law 3528/2007, as in force.
  3. Not have any hindrance due to criminal conviction or awaiting trial or privative or auxiliary judicial support (Article 1(8) of Law 3528/2007).
  4. Possess a diploma or degree in the corresponding specialisation (instrument) from a recognised music educational institution in Greece or an equivalent diploma from an educational institution abroad.
The auditions will be held in Thessaloniki in venues to be announced by the Thessaloniki State Symphony Orchestra.
The starting date for holding the auditions is set at 23 February 2019
All those wishing to take part in the auditions must, within a strict period of thirty (30) days from the date of the last publication of this announcement in the daily press, submit or send by registered post their application by special form to the Thessaloniki State Symphony Orchestra.
Application forms with copies of this announcement are available to every interested party from the above service.
Together with the application form, the candidate must submit their CV and any other information which may provide a picture of their artistic profile and ability.
In particular, candidates who claim recognized musical talent by filling in the specific field in the application form, are required to submit details which justify this status.
Confirmation of this will be made, according to the law, by the Examination Board. After checking the relevant supporting documents of every such candidate, the said Board will confirm the details which constitute ‘recognized artistic talent’ and will permit them to enter the audition.
Failure to submit such details together with the application to take part in the audition will render any subsequent claim of the aforementioned status void.

Should a musician submit an application for two (2) positions, the examination for the second position will be done only in the points where the examination material does not coincide for both positions.
The examination of the candidates takes place before the Examination Board without an audience. Only the presence of musicians of the Orchestra who belong to the same family (of instruments) as the examined instrument is permitted, in accordance with the terms of Article 1(7) of Ministerial Decision no ΥΠΠΟ/ΚΑΤΕΧΝ/35836/22-7-1999.
The lists of successful candidates, according to instrument, will contain the same number of successful candidates as there are positions, as announced, and will be posted on the wall of the Offices and on the Orchestra’s notice board in the presence of two (2) employees. The relevant minutes will also be drafted and then sent to the Human Resources Management Directorate of the Ministry of Culture and Sports.
 The successful candidates will submit all legal supporting documents to be requested in writing by the Human Resources Management Directorate of the Ministry of Culture and Sports.
The venue where the auditions will be held and every issue related to them will be determined through decisions and announcements of the Examination Boards and will be posted up in the offices of the Thessaloniki State Symphony Orchestra.
This decision-announcement will be published in the Government Gazette, in the newspaper, ‘Dimosiografika’ and will be posted on the Ministry of Culture and Sports’ website (www.culture.gr) in the field Enimerosi – Epilogi Prosopikou-Prokirixeis [News – Personnel Selection – Announcements], as well as on the Thessaloniki State Symphony Orchestra’s website ([email protected]) and the Diavgeia website (www.et.diavgeia.gov.gr). A summary of this Announcement will also be printed in two newspapers, one in Athens and one in Thessaloniki.

We are pleased to announce that the period for Submission of Applications and Supporting Documents for the Auditions held in order to fill twelve (12) permanent Artistic Personnel vacancies in the Thessaloniki State Symphony Orchestra
 
starts on Monday,
17 December 2018

ends on Tuesday,
15 January 2019
 
 
 
 
(candidates wishing to post their applications and supporting documents must ensure that their postage slip is dated no later than 15/01/2019,
while candidates wishing to submit their applications and supporting documents to the TSSO Secretarial Department must do so on working days between 7:00 and 15:00)
 
 
 
Candidates must submit their curriculum vitae along with their application, as well as any other data that may help to reflect their artistic personality and skills.
 
Candidates are required to submit the following:
-A photocopy of their ID card or passport (along with the application), as well as
-A diploma or certificate in the corresponding specialty (instrument) awarded by a recognised music education institution in Greece, or an equivalent diploma awarded by an educational institution abroad (up until the day before the auditions, by category and instrument).
